Position Summary

About the Opportunity

From 2019, Knox Family and Children’s Services will be delivering an Early Childhood Language Program.

This is an initiative from the Victorian Department of Education and Training, in providing German language experiences for preschool children.

In partnership with the existing Early Childhood Staff at the 2 Early Childhood services, the Language Teacher will be responsible for the delivery of the German Language Program

The Early Childhood Language Program will be delivered in accordance with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and children will be encouraged to learn through exploration, problem-solving and play, in another language.

The successful applicant will work closely with existing staff to support aspects of the education program in German. You will be offered professional development and the opportunity to apply for an EC scholarship from the Department of Education and Training to undertake an undergraduate or postgraduate EC qualification.

About the Team

Knox City Council is one of the largest local government providers of early years services in Victoria. The Family & Children's Services Team delivers innovative, evidence-based, high quality children's services through four year old preschool, centre-based care, Preschool Field Officers, playgroups and maternal and child health.

We are a large and vibrant team of nearly 300 early childhood and family support professionals who work with a strong focus on integrated and collaborative practice to support children and families. With such a diversity of early years services, we collaborate, innovate, reflect and support each other to deliver services that respond to our strategic direction articulated through The Community and Council Plan.

Knox Council delivers early years services to approximately 4500 families across 43 purpose built early years facilities every week.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills, appropriate for all stakeholders
  • Ability to plan, implement and evaluate an inclusive child-centred play based program that supports children’s strengths and interests aligned to best practice in early childhood pedagogy.
  • You are innovative and strives to find inclusive ways of acknowledging diversity within the preschool community to improve service delivery. 
  • Proficient in the German Language
